Facilities Services Division

The Facilities Services Division interacts with client agencies on a regular, often daily basis, to support the programs offered by client agencies providing "direct tenant services". This includes all custodial services, building engineering, security and access controls, monitoring air quality, responding to emergencies, and property management and leasing. This division is also responsible for preparing new building operating estimates, design and project oversight for all minor maintenance and maintenance related Capital Improvement projects.

Facilities Services Administration

The Facilities Management Office is located in the Civic Center Complex located at 250 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Suite 1329. This unit is responsible for all of the administrative functions for the Division. It is also responsible for the centralized Service Request/Dispatch Desk for maintenance and custodial services in the Civic Center buildings, scheduling and approving all Special Event requests for the buildings and Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. This unit also provides property management support to City tenants located in the Civic Center Complex.

The Main Security Office is located in on the first floor of 250 Frank H. Ogawa and is under direction the Civic Center Building management.

Building Engineering:

building The three building engineering units provide all of the maintenance activities in the Civic Center Complex, Emergency Operations Center, Hall of Justice, Eastmont Police Substation, Oakland Museum of California, Oakland Main Library, African-American Museum and Library, Veterans Building and the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Buildings. These activities include repairs to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), elevators, electrical and plumbing systems. In addition, the building engineers also provide maintenance services to many of the 309 City buildings including maintenance of elevators, UPS/diesel generators, air compressors and vehicle-fueling stations.

Custodial Services:

building The custodial units are responsible for cleaning activities in all City buildings including libraries, recreation and senior centers. In addition, they provide event and meeting setup for Civic Center and all of the Parks & Recreation Agency's rental facilities.

Project Design:

project design The Project Design unit is responsible for the architectural design and project monitoring for renovations, retrofits, and capital maintenance repairs at City facilities. Staff prepares project specifications, construction bid packages, and monitors construction to ensure successful completion of the project.
